Layla's quilt

My Girlfriend's daughter is the youngest of 4 and the only girl. She is so precious. So I decided to make her a special quilt. I let her choose the fabrics (via email) and sent her the following pics for approval.

Hopefully she loves it!

(I have no clue why my words are underlined up there? I guess since I added my pics first then starting typing?)

Queen Bee's 2nd quilt

Yes, I said second quilt because I have to take pictures of the 1st quilt. I also have to say these are just the toppers. I have to go down to my mom's house to quilt them since she has a fancy shmancy long arm quilting machine.

You will also have to excuse my temporary sewing/craft room. The basement is not finished yet and I am using the dining room still. Oh, one day that basement will be done! LOL

The Quilt Top - before we decided to add the flower applique. I am going to bind it in the lime green and add a slim black detail around the outer edge. Not quite a sashing, but a ribbon trim detail.

Close up of the blocks. Queen Bee picked out the colors, fabrics, and pattern. She sketched it out all by herself. Not bad for a 9 year old :)

Flower applique detail. We thought it needed a punch of pink in the middle of the quilt.

The whole picture :)

Finished the topper in a day, just finished the strip of all the fabrics to add to the backing. Now to sew on the applique and bag it up for the trip to mom's house!

Happy Quilting

Back and time to switch gears

Okay, I have spent the last year working 16 hours a day and I am tired!!! So, my new crafting obsession? Quilting!!! Well, I guess I should say - I have quilted before - when I was in college. BUT this is different!! I have discovered the modern quilt movement! So far, I have made 2 modern style quilt tops, 1 more traditional style -ready to be quilted and for my grandma. I also am in the process of making a cool wall hanging and learning some new techniques. I will post pics and details soon!!

Valentines Day Treat Boxes

This is my favorite Holiday but as my normal chaos would have it - we were over booked this week. We did find time to make chocolate covered strawberries and marshmallows. We also made these adorable chinese take out boxes! They hold about 18 kisses - but since I had to make 64 boxes -we only put in 10 kisses per box. Next time I will make the tags cuter but the I think the kids did a great job on these!

This is the pattern I used for the boxes. Give it a try and let me know how cute your boxes turned out!

It's been a while.....

It's been a while since I posted. I keep saying, I am going to keep this up! Let's see if it happens...
Right now I am doing a Holiday Swap with 10 other ladies from all over the country. I am so excited! We just completed an October Swap -it was super fun. I will post some of the goodies I sent and received. I also need to post some words I had made for Connor's room. I am doing business with a talented girl who can make your ideas into vinyl clings....it is amazing! I have more projects for her - so many ideas -so little money :)
Here are some of the items from the October swap:
Happy Crafting!!!
